Robert Lyle Pickett 61, departed this life on Friday, February 2, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones after a brief illness.

Robert was affectionately known to family and friends as “Bobby.” He attended the Neptune Township school district and then attended Stockton State University where he joined Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated.  He transitioned from Stockton State and joined the United States Air Force. He spent 15 years in the Air Force and later joined the Army where he served his country for another 15 years reaching the rank of Sargent.  During his time in the service he served overseas in Costa Rica, Honduras, Kosovo, England, Poland, and Czechoslovakia.  He eventually completed a tour in Operation Desert Shield/Storm.  Robert relocated to Long Beach, California after the service where he worked as a technician.

Bobby was an avid collector of Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia. He loved to listen to gospel music with his mother and his favorite song was sung by Marvin Sapp “I Never Would Have Made It.”

Robert was predeceased by his parents Edward and Dorothy Pickett, a brother Edward Jr. and a sister Wanda Pickett Reevey.

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons Robert Antony Pickett and Andra Montgomery; a sister Sharon Stevenson, his twin sister Robin Pickett; nephews Aatif Ghafur, Rafiq Pickett, Mark Graham, Jaron Reevey and Curtis Showers; nieces Monika Pickett, Johari Reevey and Jasmine Graham; great-nephews Kyle, Isaiah, Jordan, Aiden, Curtis Jr. Bryce and Carter; great-nieces Jaelynn, Keegan, and Cruz.

Rest well Bobby – Your fight is over!
