Robert A. Wade, affectionately known as Sonny, was born July 11, 1931, in Newark, NJ to the late Mr. Andrew J. Wade and Mrs. Eva J. Brown. He was educated in the Middletown and Asbury Park School System. At an early age, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 13th, 1951, where he received a Good Conduct award. Following his honorable discharge after serving for four years, he was employed by Cooper Electric Company in Middletown, New Jersey. He enjoyed donating to charitable organizations, spending the holidays with family, and watching Western tv shows and movies. Robert was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church in Atlantic Highland, NJ. He lived in the Kennedy Towers in Long Branch, NJ for 29 years and took pride in his ability to remain independent until he moved into the Coral Harbor Rehabilitation & Health Center in October 2022. On Friday, May 12, 2023, Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Robert was predeceased by his parents Andrew J. Wade and Eva J. Wade, Pecoloa Wade-Johnson (divorced), son Stephen Wade, and sister Francis Keyes.

He leaves to cherish his memories his brother Kenneth Wade (Grace); his daughters Deborah Hughley (Kevin) and Denise Calderon; grandchildren: Kerryn Brown (Jerell), Nelson Calderon, and Kyla McClusky (Kendall); great-grandchildren Jerell Brown Jr. and Cameron Brown, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
