SERVICE DETAILS
Rudolph Sigler, also known as Rudy, 77, transitioned suddenly on Saturday, May 30th, 2026. He was born on December 10th, 1948, in Albany, Georgia. His mother's name is Dora Mae Carter (deceased), and his father's name is John Lee Jackson (deceased), but the Lord foresaw it fit that he be raised by his aunt, Catherine Moody. “Mama Cat,” as Rudy would call her. He loved his “mama cat” and his cousins, whom he looked at as his brothers and sisters. He went to Monroe High School in Albany, Georgia. While attending school from 65-68, Rudy was known for track and field. They called him “Blue Shade,” and he was the fastest in the state! His record in the 100-yard dash was 9.75 seconds. He also excelled in the 220, 440, 880, 400 relay and the Broad jump.
Eventually, he moved from Albany to Red Bank, New Jersey, where he met a host of soon-to-be friends and family, including his wife-to-be, Brenda Smith, of Red Bank, NJ. The two of them met in 1983 through a mutual friend, “Butchie.” Butch was one of Rudy’s best friends, so, as a best friend does, he introduced Rudy to Brenda, knowing that he had taken an interest in her. It wasn't long after that that Rudy knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Brenda and his bonus sons and nephews: Duane E. Smith, Alonzo D. Spinks, Brian K. Maith, and Andrew L. Maith. His occupation was installation engineering, teaching his guys this trade amongst several other young men. Creating bonds, being the father figure he always desired to be. Proudly, Rudy was able to witness these young men flourish in this exchange, two of them being Duane Smith and Christ-Man Joshua Perry.
Referring back to Rudy meeting Brenda in ‘83, he proposed in that same year. It was at 218 South Pearl St., where Rudy cooked dinner for her, her mother, and her grandmother. The late Elenor Tyson and Christina Richardson. After dinner, Rudy proposed, Brenda accepted, and together they were engaged for 5 years. Wanting to be equally yoked with Brenda, Rudy became a member of Shrewsbury Ave AME Zion Church, as she already was. They got married at their home church on August 21st, 1988, officiated by the late Rev. Andrew L. Foster, committing to God and to each other for 38 years. Rudy loved to take Brenda out dancing, to yard sales/flea markets on Saturdays, to the beach in Long Branch, and to their favorite restaurants— “All Seasons” and “Harold’s.” Aside from loving his wife and his family, Rudy loved football. The Dallas Cowboys! Win or lose, he stayed loyal to his team. And he absolutely loved music!!! ALL genres, but house music was his favorite.
He fell in love with DJ’ing, in accordance with the music around his early 20s. He went by “DJ Master Mix”, later changing it to “DJ Georgia Boy.” Mastering his craft for over 50 years, Rudy mentored young men, played at the Masonic Hall, recreational parks, cookouts, weddings, block parties, in the clubs (before he got saved), and holiday events. He also attended the annual music festivals at Lincoln Park in Newark, NJ. Like many things, being great at, Rudy was a great cook, and he loved chicken! Fried, baked, grilled, or rotisserie, it didn’t matter. He was satisfied with chicken, and he was famous for his collard greens! His recipe even received 2nd place out of 5 contestants at the Twin River Theater downtown, Red Bank, where Rudy proudly held his award. His grandchildren, Inayah and Jawad, participated as judges.
As mentioned, Rudy was an active member of Shrewsbury AME Zion Church, and in later years, being led by the Holy Spirit, joined St. Thomas AME Zion Church under the leadership of former Pastor, Rev. Lester E. Baylor. Rudy loved St. Thomas, his Pastor, and he loved to serve. He was head of the men's department, a praise and worship leader, and was often called on to pray. Growing to love his current Pastor, Pastor Danica L. Frink, Rudy will never forget the impact she has had on his life in a short period of time.
Rudolph was predeceased by his parents, Dora Mae Carter and John Lee Jackson, his aunt, Catherine Moody, his bonus father Leroy, and his brother, John Arthur Jackson.
