Ruth Gaylord Drummond, daughter of the late James G. and Willie Jane Hassell Gaylord, was born August 20, 1921 in Roper, North Carolina.  She departed this life on February 7, 2019 at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.

Ruth was educated in the Roper, North Carolina School System.  She also received a cosmetology license in Summit, NJ.  She held several jobs during her early adult life, Monmouth County Girl Scouts, Jennings Beauty Salon and Worrells Beauty Shop.  She then moved on to teaching cosmetology at Wilfred Academy, Newark, NJ for several years before she retired.

  1. RB says:

I wish to express my condolences for the loss of your dear Mrs. Drummond.   The God of heavens shares your loss.  He provides wonderful hope for the future (John 5:28-29; Psalm 37:11, 29, 39; Revelation 21:3-5).  Jesus taught us to pray for that marvelous time at Matthew 6:9-10.  Please reach out your heavenly Father for the comfort that you need (2 Corinthians 1:3-4; Psalm 34:18).  The link below is to a short video about His plans for your precious Mrs. Drummond; it is my sincere wish that it will be of great benefit to you as it has been to me over the years: https://www.jw.org/finder?srcid=share&prefer=content&applanguage=E&locale=en&item=pub-imv_4_VIDEO&docid=1011214.  May the peace of God be with all of you (Philippians 4:6-7).

  2. Marianne Harrell says:

Jackie, my condolences to you and your family. I was saddened to learn of your mother’s passing. I thought it odd when she hadn’t been in church for two weeks but later on that Sunday, I learned the reason. Your mother was a humble, DEDICATED member of St. Thomas and she will be missed. The fact that she lived such a long life is a true blessing. May her soul continue to sing sweetly in Heaven.
