Safeer Deshawn Gumbs was born on September 3, 1994 in Red Bank, NJ to Sean and Doris Gumbs.  He transitioned from this life to his heavenly life on September 6, 2022.

Safeer was raised in Old Bridge, NJ where he attended James A. McDivitt Elementary and Carl Sandburg Middle School until his family moved to Cliffwood.  He continued his education in Matawan Avenue Middle School and then on to Matawan Regional High School.  Upon graduating he did one semester at Brookdale Community College.  Safeer decided to just jump into the workforce having numerous jobs, earning different certificates and a Sora License.  On April 30, 2018 he became a father to his NUMBER 1 girl, his daughter Moon Dior Gumbs.  Safeer loved her dearly, to look at her is to see him.

Safeer grew up knowing the Lord.  He was baptized in March of 2004 here at Providence, where he joined the Usher’s Ministry and became a Jr. Usher.  Safeer helped out around the church, before his passing he was a great help with the food pantry, he would help anyone and everyone he meets.  He loved to watch Football and Basketball, his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, Oklahoma Thunder, and the 76’s.

Safeer greeted everyone he met with that little smile and always a warm hug.  He made friends wherever he went and if you met him once you would never forget him.

He leaves to cherish in his memory his parents Sean and Doris; daughter Moon Dior; brother Donnell Carroll; sister Latisha Carroll, uncles Lonnie Carroll (Helen), Bernile Carroll (Denise); aunts Annie Carroll, Carol Peterson (Larry), Judith and Janice Carroll; his great-great aunt Polly who is 99 yrs. old and his great aunt Maggie Bridgewaters; extended family of aunts and uncles who loved him like her own; his nece Adrianna Fletcher and nephew Damier Carroll; a host of cousins whom he loved very much, especially Shakier Gardner and Curtis Carroll people referred to them as the 3 Musketeers; a special friend Danielle Hoyt.
