OBITUARY
SERVICE DETAILS
Sheila was a resident of Laurel Bay Nursing Home in Keansburg, NJ. She was a kind soul who was deeply spiritual and sustained herself through prayer and praise of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sheila was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 13, 1956, to her parents James and Helen Adams. She graduated from North High School in Youngstown and went on to attend Youngstown State University and West Virginia State University in West Virginia.
Sheila later married Jerome Barksdale, her husband of 2 years, however the marriage later dissolved without producing children from that union.
Sheila resided with her father James Sr. in Youngstown until his passing in 2009. Her mother, Helen Emily Adams passed away in January of 1968 when Sheila was 11 years old. After her father’s passing in 2009, Sheila relocated to New Jersey in 2010 to live with her brother James and his family until her health began to decline. She became a resident at Laurel Bay in 2017 until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. Adams Sr. and Helen Emily Adams, and her younger sister Laura Lynn Adams Washington.
Sheila leaves behind to cherish her beloved memory two brothers, James E. Adams Jr. of Lakewood, NJ, and David K. Adams of Cleveland, OH; two nieces Kivia H. Adams of Neptune, NJ, and Nakayla J. Adams of Howell, NJ; her nephew James E. Adams III of Jersey City, NJ, all of whom she spent much cherished time with over the years; her very best friend, Alice L. English of Howell, NJ who was a valued supporter and confidant of Sheila throughout the years she was here in NJ; another niece, Kishma Adams who she was particularly fond of who resides in Cleveland, OH with her brother David Adams; as well as her nephew, Justin Washington of Augusta, GA.
Sheila will be sorely missed by all those who knew her and her family will always be thankful to have had her with us until God called her home. We will celebrate her life and the time we had to spend with her while she was here.
REST PEACEFULLY IN GOD’S LOVING ARM’S SHEILA 🙏🏽
