Sheila M. Walker
April 26, 1957
~ March 22, 2021
Sheila Melissa Walker went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2021. Sheila was born April 26, 1957, at Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch, NJ, to Constance V. Walker, who was affectionately known to many as Mrs. Connie.
Most lovingly known as "Slack," Sheila graduated from Long Branch High School in 1976, and was employed by Monmouth Medical Center, where she worked in the Dietary Department for 20 years. A member of Second Baptist Church, since the age of nine, Sheila was an active member of the Gospel Chorus all her adult life. She loved singing praises and glorifying the Lord. When the pandemic hit, Sheila who was not a social-media fan, opened a Facebook account, so she could connect and be a part of the Facebook Live church services every Sunday. Sheila was a real Fashionista and loved her fancy hats, handbags, and matching shoes. When she stepped out, particularly on Sunday, she was dressed for the occasion, like her Fashionista grandmother. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Pokeno and shopping. Sheila was loved and for those who knew her best, also knew when Sheila was fussing, as she often was, it was her way of conveying her love of them. Before she made her transition, Sheila's words to close family members were, "I feel no pain."
Sheila was predeceased by her mother and grandmother, Sarah Vyetta Logan Walker, both of whom were very influential in Sheila's spiritual growth as a Christian and faithful servant of the Lord.
She leaves to mourn, her siblings Jeanndra "Gigi" L. Walker (Eatontown, NJ), Craig D. Walker (Roanoke, Va.), Arnissa M. Walker (Trenton, NJ), Terrence K. Walker and Aimee Walker (Bayville, NJ); uncles Spike S. Walker (New York), Corneilus Walker (Eatontown, NJ); aunts Sharon Hanserd (Jackson, NJ), Cathy "Nee Cee" Walker (deceased), Dulcie Hill (Oak Park, IL), Eara Walker Woods (Charlotte, NC); Godmother Hazel Kennedy (South Carolina); God daughter Sade Kennedy (Neptune, NJ); Godson Khaaliq Davis; cousins Brian and Nichole Walker (Howell, NJ), Charisse Rhodes and a host of cousins and friends.
