Tyrik Rasheen Press was born May 8, 1981, to the late Leroy Mapp-Lewis and Tassolovat Payton. He departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in Dumfries, VA.
His mother gave birth to him at Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch, NJ. He resided in Freehold, NJ until he was 2 years old. His mom moved to Pemberton, NJ, where he received his early education. He fell in love with his stepfather, Darnell Sutton Sr. Later moved to Mt. Holly, then to Hornetown, VA, where he worked at McDonalds and Traders restaurant. Tyrik decided he wanted to venture out and went to job corp. He returned to New Jersey in 2001 with mechanical skills in the automobile industry. He was employed at Pep Boys, Eatontown, NJ. Later, working at Domino’s pizzeria, telemarketing, Iron Mountain. He went back to school for truck driving and landed a job driving for falcon tires.
In 2008, Tyrik was blessed with a beautiful daughter, My’Unique. He was a wonderful father and he made sure he was a big part of her life. They traveled together a lot. He was a mild-mannered person, who enjoyed life and his family. He loved football and playing with children. We believed eating was a demand so much that the corner store named a sandwich after him, fat cat special. He loved his god mother’s sweet potato pie.
He was predeceased by his father, Leroy Mapp-Lewis, his brother, Dario Woods, his maternal grandmother, Grace Helen and grandfather, Albert Wilson, several aunts, uncle, and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Tassolovat Payton (James); daughter, My’Unique Sahtionna Press (Lashonda Thompson); paternal grandfather, Calvin Press; 2 sisters, Daniell Sutton, of Dumfries, VA and Desiree Sutton of Asbury Park, NJ; 3 brothers, Darnell Sutton of Farmingdale, NJ, Daniel Sutton (Tina) of Florence, NJ, and Naeem Wheeler, of Asbury Park, NJ; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a special friend, Coach Tim Yonker, and his Godmother, Charlotte McAllister.
REST PEACEFULLY IN GOD’S LOVING ARM’S MY FRIEND.
